Nowadays all smartphones are competing in terms of innovations. In this article, I will put side by side the two leading devices of the year, the Huawei P20 Pro and the Samsung S9 Plus.
The two smartphones are the most advanced in their range at this date. We could have thought that Samsung would have a small lead because they introduced their S9 Plus before the Huawei P20 Pro. Indeed this allowed him to start sales before his competitor for a few weeks. But given that both phones are now on the market, we can compare the qualities for each of them.
Let’s start with their design. This aspect remains and will remain a question of taste, the two competitors propose each of the colours that the other does not make. However, we can already say that the Huawei P20 Pro scores points with its beautiful “twilight” and “bright blue” colours. Its design is also more audacious than the Samsung S9 Plus. Indeed we are witnessing a “déjà vu” for the S9 Plus which takes a lot of the design of its predecessor while the P20 Pro has been completely revised.
In terms of screen resolution, the Samsung easily wins the medal compared to the P20 Pro which preferred to stay on Full HD+ rather than the 2K. Both devices, however, allow the user to adjust the colour temperature to get the look that suits him best.
As far as the software is concerned, the two smartphones are on an equal footing this time. The difference that could break the tie lies in the camera and the zoom. Samsung keeps its 2x zoom, already existing on the Galaxy Note 8 with a variable aperture. As for the Huawei P20 Pro, the brand has partnered with Leica to offer a triple camera to its smartphone with a 5x zoom. Night mode is also very well supported on the Huawei which gives it a considerable advantage over the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus.
Not having a zoom as powerful as the Huawei P20 Pro, Samsung is catching up on platform and graphics performance. The Samsung could really please the smartphone gaming enthusiast because he remains cold. Moreover, the memory is extensible thanks to its micro SD slot while the Huawei will be satisfied only with a memory limited to 128 Go.
In conclusion, we can say that the two smartphones remain side by side on the podium. So the choice is difficult… Which one would you choose? Let us know your preferences by leaving a comment!
